2019 Legislative Recap

The 2019 Legislative Session was challenging. Like past legislative sessions, this year’s session had its share of good and bad bills, supporters and opponents, surprises and disappointments. The members and organizations that represent the environmental wellbeing of Louisiana had their work cut out for them.

The following snapshot has been developed in an effort to let the public know how State Representatives and Senators voted on environmental interests. The selected bills and amendments represent a wide range of state environmental issues.

Comments to St James Planning Commission Regarding Wanhua Chem.

LEAN’s Technical Director, Wilma Subra prepared comments for the St James Parish Planning Commission meeting on Feb. 25, 2019 regarding the recently announced Wanhua Chemical groups $1.12 Billon Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate Plant (MDI).

Louisiana Environmental Action Network’s comments in response to the Cornerstone Chemical Co. & Hydrogen Cyanide Plant, Proposed Initial Part 70 Air Operating Permit were submitted by Technical Director Wilma Subra at the Public Hearing held on February 12, 2019. A copy is available below. Public participation is critical in protecting public health and safeguarding our communities.
